Daniel “Booby” Gibson is a professional basketball player who was chosen by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2nd Rd of the 2006 Draft. He played his college basketball for the University of Texas @ Austin where he earned freshman of the year honors.

During his NBA career, Gibson was known for his clutch three-point shooting ability and played a key role in the Cavaliers‘ first ever trip to the NBA Finals during his rookie season. He still holds the Rookie-Sophmore game record for 3-pointers made and is ranked top 5 all-time 3pt. % as a Cavaliers.

Following retirement, Daniel has continued to pursue endeavors that allow him to marry his love of basketball and embrace his passions of mentorship, business and philanthrophy by pouring both his life and athletic expertise into children.

 

He credits his most prized role as a father as fuel to build the legacy of ShootersU - his non-profit organization developed to nurture not only great shooters but also great individuals.

Founded in 2008 by Daniel Gibson, DGib Hoops is a nonprofit organization dedicated to transforming the lives of youth from underserved and challenging environments—often referred to as the "latchkey kids." With a passion for empowering the next generation, Daniel created a scholarship program to support students from 6th to 12th grade, giving them the tools and opportunities to pursue their dreams.

The foundation’s mission is rooted in its motto: The ABCs—Academics, Basketball, and a Commitment to Both. Through mentorship, education, and athletics, DGib Hoops provides a pathway to success, inspiring young people to excel both on and off the court.
